The reader reads the tag when the student enters the school premises. This helps to track the attendance of the student without manual intervention. There is no need for the student to manually swipe his card. When the student leaves the school at an odd hour, a signal or message is sent to the central database which checks the records. Incase it is found that the student has gone out without permission, a notification is sent to the concerned teacher.
Apart from this, tag-readers can be installed at the dangerous places or places where students are not supposed to enter. Once any unauthorized access is attempted in these areas, an alarm triggers off to alert the other people.
